China
From Farm To Fridge

FoodVentures leads the way in a national cooperation partnership, cultivating high-quality vegetables for premium markets, and showcasing the power of our VitaBite brand delivering D2C from Farm to Fridge during Shanghai's 2 month severe lockdown.

This first project has been the steppingstone for new clients to support in their start-up andoperations. The Sino-Dutch team is currently serving over 50 hectares of high-tech greenhouses in China.

Sweden
From Packaging Cartons To Food

Regenergy Frövi is being developed by the Swedish company WA3RM, next to a paper and carton production facility in Frövi/Rockhammar in the middle of Sweden. The large and recently updated facility is a world-leading manufacturer of packaging carton and liquid carton. The Regenergy facility will cover 21 hectare – equivalent to more than 40 football fields – capable of producing food in a circular and highly controlled manner all year round.

  • The operation in Frövi will be run by the FoodVentures Scandic team.
  • Collaboration partners include: WA3RM, Lindesberg municipality, Linde Energi and Region Örebro.
  • Tomato production planned to start in April 2024.

    Kazakhstan
    Flare Gas To Fuel Growth

    Our 10ha Aqtobe greenhouse, co-owned and operated, thrives on a negative CO2 footprint, proving its cost-efficiency with a positive EBITDA from the very first season.

    The ROIC of current operations is double digit and will reach our 16% target soon.

    The current plot is being prepared for a 14ha expansion, for which the fundamentals have been laid at the start. Considerable economies of scale will be achieved when the extension is realized, further pushing the ROIC upwards.

    Ukraine
    Resilience In Challenging Times

    Despite obvious challenges, our hydroponic lettuce greenhouse near Lviv runs at a positive EBITDA, underscoring the importance of a resilient food system.

    We are the proud owners of this first hydroponic lettuce greenhouse in Ukraine. Poweredwith artificial lighting securing year-round production and replacing imports.

    Recent years large scale US investors have committed their capital to support the change to greener and more sustainable food production. The awareness has grown that capital alone is not enough.       • Dirk Aleven
        Founder
        Connect to join the movement
        Dirk founded the company, and pioneered development and operations of greenhouses the FoodVentures-way. He has assessed, worked on and managed numerous projects specifically in the CIS-countries, the Middle-East and the US. He chairs the management Board. Dirk holds a MSc in Technology Management from the University of Groningen.

        Heading Cultivation

        Mikel started with for FoodVentures as Project Manager in 2012 and has since then develop to his current role of Chief Operating Officer. During his decade of employment with FoodVentures, Mikel has worked in our operations Belgorod and Sosnogorsk in Russia, Aqtobe in Kazakhstan, Shanghai in PRC and Hawaii in the US. Mikel holds a BSc in Business Administration & Agribusiness from HAS Den Bosch University of Applied Sciences.

        Finance
        Connect to develop together
        Thierry is an early and active investor in the company and holds the role of CFO in which he has financially assessed many existing and new greenhouse operations. Previously he worked as strategy consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton and in the area of Private Equity and others. Thierry holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Groningen and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.
